I’m Katie Hobbs: This is why I want Arizona’s vote in the midterm election to stand for “no gun control.” Here’s why I’m voting in the Nov. 6 election:
We love it there. We are proud of their commitment to family, the environment, the military and their love for one another. We admire their love affair with nature and the outdoors, a love that has been passed down from generation to generation. We believe our state could and should be like theirs.
Now, Arizona is one of the most important states in the country. With over 1 million people living here, we’re a significant employer, a vital crossroads of the economy and one of the most welcoming states in the country. We’re proud of our state and the impact we’ve had on people for two centuries. There is much work to be done.
But the most important of these accomplishments was the work of the first 20 years of the Bush administration, when we pushed through the most massive tax reform in U.S. history, when we lowered taxes for businesses and the middle class, when we began to improve the environment and reduce our reliance on oil and gas.
We’re on the cusp of electing the first Democrat to serve in the Oval Office in our state’s history. Democrats have been in charge in Arizona since 1969, and I want us to continue that legacy. We’re lucky to have such a bright, diverse group of candidates who represent all of our priorities and who will be a strong voice for working families in Washington.
I will serve as your voice in Washington on critical issues like health care, the environment and energy. It’s important that I have a voice, as they have made clear they need one. If you know me, you know I’m an independent-minded progressive who is passionate about the things I care about—the issues that most affect our families.
The president and the Democrats were out of touch. They were too focused on taking us back to the dark days of the Bush administration, but not focused enough on the steps they have taken to build up America, from fixing our infrastructure—our roads, bridges, rail lines and other critical assets—to our defense and intelligence where we are the strongest. It’s time to refocus on
