‘Little Mermaid’ star Halle Bailey gets sweet surprise from Delta pilot: ‘Real tears’
Halle Bailey wasn’t able to keep her big plans to appear on the new ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ out of her mind.
The new ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ star was set to make her mark on the next big-screen version of the classic animated series this fall, but now the ‘Little Mermaid’ star has gotten the sweetest surprise of her life: a Delta Airlines pilot has offered to take her on a trip to New York City.
‘Little Mermaid’ star Halle Bailey has been told she can take a ride on Delta Air Lines’ first commercial flight after all.
Halle has said she was trying to talk her parents into taking her to see ‘Little Mermaid’ in full 3-D form, but they wouldn’t. So she made her own deal.
“My parents have been really good about it,” Halle told USA Today. “They took it very, very seriously and said, ‘You have to get out of this on your own. Don’t listen to us, we’re just trying to save your career.’ And they really helped.”
Halle was set to play Ariel in the upcoming “Star Trek: Discovery” flick but it looks like those plans may be derailed by her parents.
“I kind of took it as my life’s mission, really,” the “Little Mermaid” star admitted.
In an email to USA Today about the incident, Delta said it’s “grateful for all of our travelers” who have “brought us a lot of joy.”
After a week of teasing, “Little Mermaid” fans got a surprise on Monday when series actor A.J. Trautmann tweeted about his experience being asked by Halle a little over 10 hours before boarding a Delta flight. The pair were set to attend a ‘Friends’ reunion, and Halle’s mom made the call to have her be the last to board.
“Great news! Halle and I will be in flight together,” she wrote. Halle later thanked Trautmann in a Facebook post. “I can’t imagine this all without you. I love our fans!”
A Delta captain then tweeted back to her fans on Tuesday asking, “Any chance we could meet up on (Delta) flight 1603 tonight?”
The actor responded to the tweet
