Antique Chinese Silk Embroidered Bell Butterfly Medallion Badge Robe Trim
This antique Chinese silk embroidered bell and butterfly medallion badge robe trim dates from the 1920s. It is made of a pink silk fabric background, with a contrasting black raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work, blue forbidden stitch Peking knot accents of a decorative bell in the center and butterflies, flowers encircling it. This beautifully embroidered textile badge medallion roundel remnant might have come off of an older Manchu robe, or wedding ceremonial wall hanging banner and has been professionally matted onto a newer silk damask weave patterned fabric border trim matting and silk backing suitable and ready for framing. The roundel medallion measures 13 inches wide. It is in excellent condition, with only some slight faint discoloration staining on the fabric backing. This is truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of antique Chinese textile embroidery art!
