Costa Rican Bank
Banco Anglo Costarricense was a Costa Rican bank founded in 1863 with British and Costa Rican capital, as its name implies, and closed after the financial collapse on September 14, 1994 by order of the José María Figueres Olsen government.
It was one of the oldest banks in the country, it was created under the Bank of England model whose operation was studied by Costa Rican investors and for a long time it was the most successful in the country. 1 It was nationalized in 1949 along with all the banks under the government of José Figueres Ferrer and went on to become a state bank.
Due to mismanagement of funds and political corruption of the Board of Directors during the government of José María Figueres Olsen, the bank was officially closed by agreement of the Governing Council during the administration of José María Figueres Olsen, which was announced nationally by President Figueres, being the first time in history that a state bank failed. Thousands of bank workers were unemployed. two

Banco Anglo Costarricense
