Description

The Costa Rica 5,000 Colones Banknote from 2012 is part of the 2009 2015 series. Its design is based upon the original drawings by illustrator Fernando Zeledon, with embossed dots above the watermark areas to assist the sight-impaired. The obverse side features the map of Costa Rica in OVI, the Banco International building, and a portrait of former President Alfredo Gonzalez Flores. The reverse side features a mangrove swamp, flowers, crab, monkey, and caimans. The note is 139 x 67 mm in size and is equipped with a Motion windowed security thread and solid security thread to enhance its security features. Placing the note under a UV light would show a watermark image of Alfredo Gonzalez Flores.
