Untitled DocumentVintage Chinese Blue Silk Gold Dragon Phoenix Embroidered Belted Kimono Robe
This vintage Chinese blue silk gold dragon phoenix embroidered belted kimono robe dates from the 1960s. It is made of a bright royal blue color fine tissue silk fabric with golden yellow silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work of auspicious symbols, endless knot, goldfish dragon and phoenix. The Chinese consider the dragon and phoenix symbolic of blissful relations between husband and wife, a common yin and yang metaphor, the goldfish are a symbol of fertility, which also transformed into a dragon when jumping over the top of the falls and the endless knot stands for infinity, longevity. There are yellow silk embroidered Chinese characters on the front side. This beautiful blue Chinese kimono robe has a loose fitting long floor length style, with an open front, matching silk belted tie closure, long full sleeves and is unlined. The robe measures 48 inches long, with a 44 inch chest, 44 inch waist, 44 inch hips and 13 inch long sleeves. It is in good condition, has not been cleaned, with several small faint stains. This is truly a wonderful piece of Chinese wearable art!
