Savoring Oregon’s Wine Country, No Driving Required
If you want to visit Oregon’s wine country without a car, there’s the Wine Trails Tour from the Oregon Wine Trail website or from its Facebook page. It’s a free tour of Wine Country that’s a great way to enjoy a unique Oregon wine-country experience.
You’ll get to visit three wineries, including Egan Winery, Pappy and Harriet’s, and the St. Louis Winery, located in the St. Louis Hills region about 75 miles from Portland. The tour is offered on the weekends and it’ll depart from the Eugene, Oregon airport.
Egan Winery, in the Eugene, Oregon area, is a family wine-making business and it offers a tour of this historic, farm winery. I recommend this tour as the best way to experience Egan because you have the opportunity to visit the oldest winery in the state and see how family and vintage winemaking are practiced.
You’ll start in the tasting room, which was the original winery, designed by the legendary winemaker, Paul Egan. You’ll then have a chance to tour the tasting room where the history of wine making in this country can be seen.
If you’re looking for a way to experience the history of Oregon wine making, this would be the tour for you. Even the tasting room where you buy your wine is filled with interesting memorabilia.
After a tour of the tasting room, you’ll walk through the historic winery’s vineyard. You’ll enjoy a glass of a wine that I’ve already suggested you taste, a chardonnay, and then you’ll get to sample some more.
The next stop is the Pappy and Harriet’s Cellars winery, where you’ll take a tour of the cellar, the tasting room, and the tasting bar. You’ll enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while you tour, and you’ll get a chance to taste a handful of their wines
